Keynote Speaker

Dr. A. Omar Abubaker, DMD, PhD

Dr. Abubaker is a graduate of the School of Dental Medicine, University of Pittsburgh. He completed his residency training and a fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has been on the Faculty at VCU School of Dentistry and VCU School of Medicine since 1991. He currently serves as a professor and Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, School of Dentistry, and School of Medicine at VCU Medical Center. Dr. Abubaker is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and he is a practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He has authored two oral and maxillofacial surgery textbooks, more than 100 chapters and over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and numerous abstracts and scientific presentations. Dr. Abubaker maintains an active intramural private practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery in addition to his teaching and administrative responsibilities. Dr. Abubaker has earned a Graduate Certificate in International Addiction Studies and has recently became involved in education and research in the field of addiction and the current opioid epidemic.

Dr. John D. Ogram, MD

Dr. Ogram studied Psychiatry at Georgetown University. Practiced in Northern Virginia for 30 years. Came to the Shore in 2007. Runs a Private Practice in Exmore and with Meridian Psychotherapy in Virginia Beach. Dr. Ogram will be talking about the process of recovery.
